Error: ezSQL_mysql requires mySQL Lib to be compiled and or linked in to the PHP engine

Is it that my Apache/MYSQL/PHP is not configured properly? I recently moved from Windows to Linux and ez_sql was working like a charm for Windows.
However PHPMyAdmin works in the LAMP env on my box.
